PRIDE Month is held annually to commemorate the June 1969 Stonewall Riots in Greenwich Village, New York that served as a turning point for the gay rights movement in America. Not only was this a significant event, but it also serves as a reminder to honor diversity and uplift the LGBTQ+ community. Here are some tips from your Mason Dixie fam to help you celebrate PRIDE whether you’re a member of the LGBTQ+ community or an ally.
Advocate for the LBGBTQ+ Community
Hunnay, while this may be the simplest, it is also one of the most meaningful ways to honor and support the LGBTQ+ community. Being an ally and activist can be as simple as showing your support to loved ones exploring who they are, to actively learning more about the community by educating yourself and the people around you.
Watch LGBTQ+ Shows & Movies
The LGBTQ+ community is made up of a diverse set of experiences and not really a monolith, so we find it important to highlight a few shows and movies that provide representation to the queer experience!
