Celebrating Women's History Month

Celebrating Women's History Month

The month of March and International Women’s Day is an annual time to celebrate the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society. At Mason Dixie Foods, we proudly celebrate badass women who have and continue to fight for gender equality. Here are some ways you can celebrate Women’s History (even after the month of March is over).

Learn More About the History of Women’s Rights

Because everyone should know about the history of women’s rights in this country. Start with how and why women fought for the right to vote, and how married women had no property rights or the opportunity to gain an education. It is important to remember that we are not so far removed from these days, and it is inspiring to learn of the many amazing women that have made an impact.

Learn More About Issues Impacting Women Today

While our country has come a long way, we still have a way to go. Women are paid significantly less in the workplace, and even more so if they are a woman of color. Not to mention the double standards in the hiring process and the lack of female representation in corporate leadership roles.

Support Women-Owned Businesses

While women-owned businesses are easier to come by today, women still represent the minority of business owners, especially women of color. Our founder, Ayeshah Abuelhiga, is a prime example of the badass women out there running businesses. Here are a few women-owned CPG brands that we love:

  • Partake Foods
  • Beckon Ice Cream
  • Daily Crunch Snacks
  • Swoon
  • Trade Street Jam Co.
Write a Thank You Note to a Woman That Inspires You

Whether it is a role model, or a friend that has been there during a tough time, a letter acknowledging them can mean a lot. This is a time to show gratitude!
